Anthony “Tony” Tuczynski of Ponte Vedra, Florida, formerly of Athens and Catskill, New York, died peacefully on August 20, 2026, following a long battle with cancer. He was 82 and would have celebrated his 83rd birthday just days later. His passing has left family, former students, friends, parish members, and community members mourning a man remembered for his dedication to education, service, faith, and family.
Tony devoted more than three decades of his life to education, touching the lives of generations of students through his work, most notably at Grandview Elementary School. Those who knew him remembered an educator who took his responsibility seriously and understood the lasting influence a teacher can have on a young person’s life. His commitment to helping children learn and grow became one of the defining parts of his professional legacy.
His service extended well beyond the classroom. A U.S. Army veteran, Tony also remained actively involved in his church and community throughout his life. He contributed his time to youth sports, church teaching, and local leadership, consistently finding ways to support the people and organizations around him.
For Tony’s family, however, his greatest legacy was the love and devotion he gave at home. He shared 56 years of marriage with his wife, Patricia “Patty” Tuczynski, building a life together centered on family, faith, and shared experiences. He was a proud father to Amy, Timothy, Jonathan, and Jill and took immense joy in watching his children and grandchildren grow.
His grandchildren—Scarlett, Lucas, Jamie, Mya, Ellie, Raeya, and Mari—held a special place in his heart. Tony treasured the opportunity to support them, celebrate their accomplishments, and remain involved in their lives. The memories created through family gatherings and milestones will now serve as lasting reminders of the man they loved.
After retirement, Tony embraced a new chapter while continuing to enjoy the activities and relationships that brought him happiness. He traveled, played golf, enjoyed skiing, and spent valuable time with friends and family. His retirement years allowed him to remain connected to the people he loved while pursuing interests that had long brought him enjoyment.

Tony is survived by his wife, Patty; his children, Amy, Timothy, Jonathan, and Jill; his grandchildren, Scarlett, Lucas, Jamie, Mya, Ellie, Raeya, and Mari; his brothers; and members of his extended family.
As relatives and friends mourn his death, Tony will be remembered not simply for the years he lived, but for the lives he influenced along the way.
