Adair Robin Hunter, B.Ed., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, teacher and friend, died peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was 89.
Born on October 11, 1936, Adair leaves behind a family and community that will remember him for his dedication to teaching, his love of the outdoors, and the warmth he brought to his relationships with friends and relatives.
Adair was a teacher by profession and by passion. Education was an important part of his life, and he is remembered with affection by the people whose lives he influenced through his work. Outside the classroom, he enjoyed curling, birds, and spending time with the people closest to him.
Family remained at the heart of Adair’s life. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Geoffrey and his wife, Rose, of Calgary; Murray of Brookings, South Dakota; and Robin and his wife, Nell, of Vancouver. His grandchildren, Jesse and her husband, Carl; Ben and his wife, Grace; Daniel and his partner, Acacia; Cameron; and Pearl will also carry his memory forward. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Alan, and Alan’s wife, Elizabeth.
Adair was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carole; his son, Cameron; and his sister, Wendy. Their absence formed part of the family history he carried throughout his later years, while the love he shared with those still around him remained a central part of his life.
Those who knew Adair will remember the simple pleasures that brought him happiness—time spent curling, observing birds, enjoying the outdoors, and gathering with friends and family. These everyday interests reflected a man who found meaning in companionship, nature, and the connections built over a lifetime.
His death represents the loss of a respected educator and a cherished member of his family. For his children and grandchildren, his memory will remain connected to the lessons he taught, the experiences they shared, and the many years of love and guidance he provided.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton.
As family and friends gather to remember Adair, they will celebrate a life shaped by education, family, friendship, and the quiet joys he cherished. His legacy will live on through the generations of family he leaves behind and through the many people whose lives he touched as a teacher and friend.
