Lauren Grace McLaughlin, a 23-year-old Sandy Springs woman remembered for her joyful personality, kindness and vibrant spirit, died August 16, 2026, after a vehicle crash on Interstate 85 in the Atlanta area.

According to the information provided, the crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. near North Druid Hills Road. Police said the driver attempted to cross a grassy median, lost control of the vehicle and struck a highway guardrail.

McLaughlin was seated in the front passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to a hospital with injuries that were reported as not life-threatening.

Born November 7, 2002, in Atlanta, Lauren was remembered by her family as a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. Those closest to her described her as bright, funny, joyful and full of spirit — qualities that made her presence memorable to the people around her.

Her education included St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School and Blessed Trinity Catholic High School. She later attended Georgia Southern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 2025.

Lauren’s interests also led her toward marketing and communications. During the summer of 2025, she worked as a marketing intern with Rolling Monkey, where colleagues remembered the creativity, warmth and happiness she brought to the workplace.

Her sudden death has left relatives, friends, former classmates and professional colleagues mourning a young woman whose life was filled with promise. At 23, Lauren had already completed her university education and begun building her professional path, making the loss particularly painful for those who had watched her grow.

The days following her death brought together people from different chapters of Lauren’s life, from childhood classmates and university friends to colleagues and relatives. For each, memories of her personality and the happiness she brought to others have become an important part of the grieving process.

Funeral arrangements included visitation at Sandy Springs Chapel on August 23, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church on August 24. Interment was scheduled at Arlington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Lauren’s family requested that those wishing to honor her memory consider making donations to the Atlanta Humane Society.

Lauren McLaughlin’s life lasted only 23 years, but those years were filled with relationships, education, friendship and experiences that left an enduring impression. Her family and friends will remember the laughter she shared, the encouragement she offered and the warmth she brought into ordinary moments.

As those who loved Lauren continue to mourn, her memory remains closely tied to the qualities that defined her — joy, kindness, creativity and an unmistakable spirit. Her loved ones now carry those memories forward as they remember a young woman whose life ended far too soon.
