Accident Aeroport Montreal: Ground Worker Critically Injured After Being Struck by Aircraft at Trudeau Airport

A serious accident at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport has left an airport ground worker in critical condition after the individual was struck by an aircraft during ground operations Monday evening, August 24, 2026.

Emergency services were called to the airport at approximately 7:30 p.m. after an incident involving an aircraft and an airport employee. Aéroports de Montréal confirmed that emergency measures were deployed, while reports from local media said the injured worker was transported to hospital.

The incident reportedly occurred near the international departures area as an aircraft was being moved backward during preparations for departure. Reports have identified the aircraft as a French Bee Airbus A350, although investigators have not yet released a complete official account explaining precisely how the collision occurred.

According to reports, the ground worker was involved in aircraft pushback operations when the accident occurred. Some accounts have suggested that the worker may have fallen into the aircraft’s path, but authorities have not publicly established the exact sequence of events. Those details remain subject to investigation.

The worker’s identity and age have not been publicly released. Montreal police indicated that investigators attended the airport and that the case would be handled as a workplace accident by the appropriate occupational-safety authorities.

The accident also caused disruption to airport operations. Reports indicated that the aircraft involved had been scheduled to operate a flight to Paris-Orly, with the incident contributing to a significant delay.

At this time, there has been no confirmed report that the worker has died. The latest reliable reports available describe the individual as being in critical or life-threatening condition in hospital.

Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft’s movement, ground-crew procedures, communications and other circumstances surrounding the accident. Until that investigation is completed, no specific cause should be assumed.

The incident has drawn concern across Montreal’s aviation community as colleagues and passengers await further information about the injured worker’s condition. Authorities are continuing to investigate what led to the accident at Montréal-Trudeau Airport.
